Is strategic transport modelling the answer to building happiness and prosperity?
Is strategic transport modelling the answer building a healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous region
In a recent article by Keith Homer, Transport Data Framework Manager, Transport for West Midlands (TfWM), he outlines a new perspective on strategic transport modelling.
The article talks about the current movement by TfWM to enhance its transport models and `up its game` in forecasting and appraisal. “The West Midlands Combined Authority has an ambitious agenda to build a healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous region in the broadest sense of ‘build’ – not just the urban fabric and infrastructure, but also in our industrial capability, community well-being and environmental resources.”
He goes on to say,
“Strategic transport modelling needs to be debunked fully, and soon; otherwise too many of our colleagues in other professions will conclude what Edwin Starr did about war – it’s good for absolutely nothing – and they’ll keep saying it again and again.”
