Let's Talk Women & Transport: Needs, Barriers and Success Stories

In celebration of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, this webinar discusses the current challenges women face at work, their use of public transport, and promotional channels of knowledge and experience. Presentations and discussions from key experts will inform and stimulate the debate on the cause of gender-based struggles in public transport and employment, promoting gender diversity and knowledge of future implementation in transport planning and policy practices. Speakers will discuss topics that can assist women’s societal progression - engaging and stimulating equality:

  • Gender Smart Mobility and Diversity in Transport. Concepts, Methods, Practices.

  • Mentoring program towards Gen Y and role models in the automotive field.

  • Addressing women’s needs as users and employees in mobility service – DIAMOND’s white paper.

This FREE webinar is organised as the fifth event of the AET Transport and Mobility Forum (previously AET Covid-19 Conversations) and will be chaired by Gisela Gräfin von Schlieffen, member of the AET Board, featuring speakers:

  • Dr. Chiara Maria Leva is a Lecturer at the Technological University Dublin and an Associate Principal Investigator in the Science and Technology in Advanced Manufacturing Research Group at Trinity College Dublin. She is also the Co-Chair of the European Safety and Reliability Association’s Human Factors and Human Reliability technical committee.

  • Dr. Hilda Rømer Christensen - is Associate Professor and head of the Coordination for Gender Research at the University of Copenhagen. She is the scientific coordinator for the Horizon 2020 project: TINNGO (Transport Innovation Gender Observatory) addressing gender, transport and smart mobilities in the EU. By 2022 she will be head of the project Green transport – technology and diversity in Danish municipalities.

  • Elisabeth Young is Vice President Global Accounts at DEKRA Group and Founder and President of WAVE (WoMen and Vehicles in Europe). She is a graduate of the Lyon School of Management (EM Lyon) where she specialised in Finance and holds a diploma as a chartered accountant.
