AET Transport & Mobility Forum - FREE Webinar
AET Transport and Mobility Forum invite you to the webinar:
What is System Dynamics and why use it in transport research and policy-making?
FREE Webinar: Thursday, 06 July 2023 11.00 – 12.30 CET /10.00 – 11.30 BST
In this webinar, we will introduce the theory and methodology of System Dynamics, which consists of both qualitative Causal Loop Diagrams and quantitative Stock Flow Models. Moreover, we will discuss the application of the system dynamics to transport research, including some examples of our own studies. The webinar will be co-hosted by the Systems Dynamics Programme Committee and feature the following speakers:
Dr Paul Pfaffenbichler, Institute of Transport Studies, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna, Austria
Dr Gillian Harrison, Senior Research Fellow, Institute for Transport Studies, University of Leeds (UK)
The webinar will cover:
Introduction to system dynamics and systems thinking
Causal Loop Diagrams:
Elements
Exercise
Transport Examples
Stock Flow Models
Theory
Verification and Validation
Transport Examples
Please note that there will also be a webinar and annual meeting for the System Dynamics Society, Special Interest Group in Transportation in the afternoon of 6th July, with a focus on the use of system dynamics in transport consultancy. The webinar is organised by the AET Transport and Mobility Forum and will be hosted on the Zoom platform. For further registration details, please go to AET Transport and Mobility Forum and follow the link to register for the webinar.
Paul Pfaffenbichler is a post-doc university assistant at the Institute of Transport Studies, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna, Austria. His methodological research focus is system thinking and system dynamics. He is the author of the system dynamics based transport models MARS, SERAPIS and LUNA which have been used in several national and international research projects. | |
Dr Gillian Harrison is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Transport Studies, University of Leeds (UK), involved in a wide range of projects related to new mobility services, technologies and policies, primarily using system dynamics methodologies. She also co-chairs the System Dynamics Society Special Interest Group in Transportation, and have led the ETC System Dynamics Programme Committee since 2019. |
